Wednesday 20th May

Good Morning Foxes! I hope you had a brilliant day yesterday learning all about animals.

Please have a look below to find your home learning for today. Remember we enjoy receiving your emails and photos so please do continue to send them in to the email below.

foxes@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

English:

Yesterday you planned your non-chronological report.  Today you need to read through your plan to check that you have included all this information.

  • The title of your report
  • What you are going to include in your introductory paragraph
  • Different sections (paragraphs)
  • Subheadings for each section
  • Pictures/diagrams
  • Captions for your pictures and diagrams
  • What you are going to include in your conclusion paragraph
  • What key vocabulary and interesting sentence starters are you going to include

Now check your information on your plan is correct and make sure you have checked your spelling, especially the important key words about your animal.

Today and tomorrow, you are going to write your report.  You can write it all today if you want to, but it might be better to get started today and write the introduction and the next few paragraphs – then complete it tomorrow.  Remember to write in clear sentences and read each one through to check it makes sense.  Take your time and present your report as neatly as you can.

Maths:

Today you are going to carry on looking at unit and non-unit fractions using Bitesize.  Remember if you get stuck you can send us an email and we will do our best to help.

Topic

Today you are going to learn about life cycles.  All animals and plants have a life cycle, some are simple and some are more complicated.  Have a look at this clip to learn more:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CH_YkA6Deo4

We are going to focus on the life cycle of sea turtles today. Have a look at this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zsymWRHEKU

This clip shows a useful life cycle diagram: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RLcUWu_QfA

Use the information you have watched to create a diagram of a sea turtle life cycle.  Remember to write a heading, number the stages, use subheadings, add important information and draw a picture for each stage. Make your lifecycle clear and colourful.

If you have ever visited the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, you might have seen their turtles.  Whilst the Aquarium is closed, you can watch them looking after their animals.  In this clip they are feeding Friday, the turtle – have a look:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvhZZq0UnJI

Reading:

It’s great to see so many of you reading from myON, we are enjoying seeing how you are getting on.  Today you could try reading some books about sea turtles or other marine life.

PE:

Play some sport with your family. Go for a  walk and enjoy the sunshine. As it is wild week when you go for a walk have a look around you. What wildlife do you notice?  Take pictures of the different insects, flowers or types of leaves you see. Can you name the wildlife you notice?
