Wednesday

Phonics:

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move onto watching set 3.

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words.

blow

snow

glow

slow

Now ask them to try spelling the words; Say the word slowly and allow them to decode the word independently to spell it. Keep a record of their score to share with us.

English:

Choose three of your favourite dinosaurs from the story. Write two facts about each dinosaur. Andy from Cbeebies is on hand to help.

Maths

https://pbskids.org/peg/games/happy-camel

Today we are going to be looking at weight. Who is heavier in your house? How do you know? Play the game with Dennis the camel. Which bowls are heavier and how do you know? What happens when the bowls are balanced? What does this mean?

Make two signs. One showing ‘heavy’ and one showing ‘light’. Now find objects around the house and compare the weight of different objects. Putting each on the signs to show whether it is heavy or light.

Challenge: Make a cake or something sweet with your adults at home. You can use the scales to help weigh the different ingredients. I have attached some photos to give you some ideas of what you could make.

Topic: Pick a challenge from the home learning grid.
