Wednesday 6th May

Hey Badgers!

I hope you are enjoying our week all about Magic!

To get excited for magic watch the video clip below. It is Darcy Oakes audition for Britains Got Talent. Can you work out how he did his magic tricks?

Yesterday I discovered my class email address had not been set up correctly and so although many of you had been sending me your work I had not been able to see it until yesterday. Thank you so much for sending it into me, it was so good looking at it all yesterday and seeing the fabulous work you have been doing at home! I am sorry for not responding sooner but hopefully you have now all received emails from me if you had sent work into me! You should now find on our main class page highlights of all the work you have been doing. I am so proud of you all!

Here is your learning for today. Please do send it into me so I can add some photos to our page.

English:

On Monday you created your own spells, yesterday you learnt ‘Room on the Broom’ and created your storymaps. Today you are going to plan your own version of these stories.

Here is a link to ‘Room On The Broom’ again. To rewrite and innovate the story, you’ll need to know it really well so make sure you watch it to remind yourself of the story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOTUq1ceTuc&t=612s

Here are the main points of the story which you used to make your storymaps. You are going to use these to plan your story and create your own main points. You need to innovate on the story so what else could the witch lose? Who helps the witch? What beasts and monsters does she face? How does the witch solve the issue? Maybe you could use a wizard as yours main character instead of a witch?

  1. Witch and her cat fly through the sky but the witch loses her hat.
  2. A dog brings the witch her hat back and joins them on the broom.
  3. The witch loses her bow.
  4. A green bird brings the witch her bow back and joins them on the broom.
  5. The witch drops her wand. It is returned by a frog who joins them on the broom.
  6. The broomstick snaps and the cat, dog, bird and frog all fall.
  7. The witch carries on flying into a cloud. A dragon comes and chases the witch
  8. A hideous, muddy beast rises from the swamp and scares the dragon away.
  9. The hideous beast is revealed to be the creatures covered in mud.
  10. The witch conjures a broomstick suitable for all five of them.

Remember you are not writing the story your are just planning it so bullet point your main events and key ideas. Maybe you could create a list of adjectives and sentence starters you are going to include in your writing.

Maths:

Today we are going to use the bite size daily for out maths work. Today’s lesson is all about dividing a two digit number by a one digit number. Remember to use bar models to help you.

Topic/Art:

Below there is a clip from How to train your dragon. It shows lots of different types of dragons.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjipAlQKwgI

Your job today is to design and make your own dragon. To start with you need to create a fact file about your dragon which includes these things:

  • Name of dragon
  • Description of your dragon
  • Size of your dragon
  • What your dragon weighs
  • What it eats
  • Any special features it has
  • How it protects itself and survives
  •

Once you have done this you are going to make your dragon. You can do this using a paper plate, lollipop sticks, toilet roll holders or any other art supplies or resources you have. You could just draw a picture or paint one. It is completely up to you. Below I have put some pictures to give you some examples of what you could do.

PE:

Why not try the circuit activities below again or follow Joe wicks PE lesson on youtube. Or you could go for a run or a walk around your local area. You could take photos of the things you see that make you feel happy.
