Wednesday 8th July

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

Red Words

Red words are the name we use for words the children cannot sound out as they do not follow the phonics language patterns. Their letters make uncommon sounds. The only way to learn these words is from memory, so they need lots of practise! Here are the next set of red words to learn for the next few weeks as there are fifteen;

Storytelling:

Today your task is to name and label the fruit from the story. You can draw a picture of the fruits and label them or you may want to write a list of the fruits in your book.

Challenge; Write a sentence about your favourite fruit?

Maths:

Begin by counting forwards and back from 0-30.

Today we are going to make links between doubling and addition. Complete the sentences;

"When you double a number, you add the _________ number".

"To find double, you add __________ as many."

Here is today's challenge; What do you notice?

Topic:  Pick a challenge from the home learning grid.

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. New books can be accessed online through this link. You will need to register but it is completely free. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/.

Remember you can also access your myON account using your AR reading login; www.myon.co.uk

Talking Challenge;

Jacket potato is a popular lunch choice at school. What is your favourite topping and why?
