Wednesday 8th July

Good morning everybody!  We hope you are all well and keen to get started!  Remember to send your work to your class email addresses:

Mr Bemister: otters@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Ms Edwards: foxes@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Miss Hancock: badgers@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

English:

Look at the page from ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ where it shows his delicious meal.

Your task is to describe each item of the meal, making it sound mouth-wateringly scrumptious.

Here is an example:

In your books:

Describe each food item using the example above.  Use lots of adjectives to make the food sound amazing!

Maths:

In maths this week, you will be consolidating your understanding of the number operations, using mental arithmetic and written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You will need to know when to use mental arithmetic and when to use a written method.

There are 3 great adding and subtracting learner guides and helpful video clips at:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zy2mn39

There are also 4 multiplying and dividing learner guides and helpful video clips at:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z36tyrd

You can also contact us via email, if you need any help.

Rapid recall whiteboard - Choose a number and complete your board.

Don’t forget to practise Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS)

Topic:

Today you are going to think about food and how it gets to the supermarket for us to buy.  Watch these clips that explains the journey of some of our popular supermarket foods:

Meat:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dmZKRLLjZ4

Carrots:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf74rrn1uLk

Peppers:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpYWSdH9rPE

Choose one of these tasks:

  1. In your books create a story map about one of these foods – showing each of the stages in the process.  Use small pictures and some important words or facts in each section of your map.
  2. Create a comic strip about one of these foods – draw a picture and write a simple explanation for each stage of the process.

Reading:

Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record.  Continue using myON to do your online reading and quizzes at: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html.  We can see how many books you have read and how you are doing on your quizzes. So, go on, let’s get reading!

Spellings:

Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. You will need to see which ones you want to work on. If you can spell the Year 2 spellings, then do the Year 3/4.  We will be focusing on 10 spellings every week. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
