Welcome to Parks class!
This year we have named our classes based on inspirational people from around the world and from throughout history. We have chosen our new name to be Rosa Parks class. We have two teachers in our Year 2 class this year and children are encouraged to reach for the stars and to strive and achieve the best that they can by all of us!
Myself, Mrs Hunter (previously Miss Clark) will be teaching the class for three days of the week and Mrs Lobban, who is also the Key stage 1 Leader, two days a week. On a Wednesday and Friday we will have P.E. We are very lucky to have Miss Stacey and Mrs Stubbins as our TA's this year too!
Our three topics this year are:
- Autumn - All about Plymouth- children will learn about Drake's rise to royal favour and Isambard Kingdom Brunel's building of the Royal Albert Bridge.
- Spring - Great Fire of London
- Summer- TBC
As most of you know already, we love to have great links and relationships with all the children and their families, so please feel free to contact us whenever you need to and we will always help however we can. Use the email address below:
We can't wait to have a fantastic year together!!

We would encourage you to read with your children every day. The children will come home with a book suitable to them that they can read to and with you and then quiz on in school. The more quizzes the more chances of winning prizes and the bigger the class word count! The children will also have a phonics screen and SATs this year so the more we can support them the better.
Homework will go out on a Friday and will consist of spellings, which they will be tested on weekly, they will also come home with their Times Table Travels sheet which they will be timed on weekly in the hope that they fly to the next country!
The children should practice their 2x,5x and 10x.
Below are some links to help you, your child has a log in for TTRS, Numbots and Myon to be able to access these from home.
