Welcome to the Rosa Parks class!
This year we have named our classes based on inspirational people from around the world and throughout history.
My name is Mrs Duddridge and I am thrilled to be the Year 2 class teacher. Our teaching assistants are Miss Stacey and Mrs Capstack. We also have a PGCE student, Miss Miller, working with us until the end of the year.
During the first half of the Summer term, Miss Drage will be working within KS1 to allow us time out of class to work conferencing children 1:1 on their personal targets and developments, specifically linked to 'catch-up curriculum' due to the COVID-19 impact.

Our topic for the first half of Summer Term is 'Moor to Coast'. This is going to be a fantastic learning opportunity for children and we are going to find out so much knowledge and information about places local to us and further afield. We will be looking at moorland and the coast in detail, identifying human and physical features and discussing similarities and differences between each of these places. We will also be comparing them both to the place that we live in.
We are hoping to visit a local beach during the second half of the Summer Term and children will be able to apply this learning.
Due to restrictions with COVID-19, we are trying to keep home learning as contained as possible. We will be sending spellings and times table flying sheets home each week, which do not need to come back into school. The children will be bringing reading books home to read with you. Once you have read them, please make a comment in the reading diaries and return to school. The reading books will go into 72 hour quarantine and we will send home a new book the same day.
Below, you will also find some very useful documents.
1. Spelling lists for Year 1/2. Children need to know and work on these spellings dependent on their ability.
2. Times Tables: I have attached a document that has all times tables that children in class need to know and practise.
3. Reading - Children will now bring reading books home. We have sent home reading diaries too, so we would love these to come back with your comments about your child's reading.
I have attached some reading guidance on types of questions and conversations that would be really helpful for you to do with your child at home. The more they read, the better they are at reading!
