Year 6: Pele

Welcome to Pele class!

This year we have named our classes based on inspirational from around the world and from throughout history. Ours has changed for our new Year 6 cohort. We are a straight Year 6 class this year.

Mr Young will be teaching the class each day. We have the brilliant Mrs Gilpin working with us Monday - Thursday and we have the super Mrs Waugh working with us on Thursday. She will also be supporting the children on a Friday morning.

Our three topics this year are:

- Autumn - The Victorians

- Spring - Islamic Civilisation

- Summer- TBC

As most of you know already, we love to have great links and relationships with all the children and their families, so please feel free to contact us whenever you need to and we will always help however we can. Use the email address below:

I hope your children are looking forward to what will be an exciting, challenging and busy school year!

So... why Pele?

Pele was an inspiration for many and still is to this day. He proved that everybody, regardless of their circumstances, social status and background can be successful. Pele was brought up in an incredibly poor part of Brazil and he couldn't even afford to purchase a football so he made his own. He didn't let these barriers impact on his aspirations and through grit, hard work and sheer determination, he was able to become one of the best footballers the world has seen.

Since retiring, Pele has worked around the world supporting children in poverty and helping to make improvements to the environment. Our children can learn and take a lot from his story.
