What is Operation Encompass?
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening.
The information is given in strict confidence to a school’s Key Adult to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.
In essence, in the event of an incident occurring during an evening, weekend or school holiday time, during the morning (prior to 8.30am) of the next working day after an incident, designated safeguarding leads (Cameron Lancaster and Tania Chapman) would be informed by the police of the incident to ensure that we can put the best possible support in place for any children involved, either themselves or as an eyewitness.
If you have any queries regarding Operation Encompass please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Tania.
