Curriculum at Knowle

The curriculum delivered to our children at Knowle is centered on our top three priorities as a school. Our top three priorities are known as I.C.E...

Top Three Priorities (I.C.E)

Improving

Standards across all subject areas.

Closing

The gap for all groups of learners including Disadvantaged and Non-Disadvantaged, SEND and Non-SEND, Boys and Girls.

Embedding

The intent of the LAT designed Curriculum. Following its creation, implementing this curriculum to become embedded in school practice and refine this along our journey as we review its impact on learners.

The Learning Academies Trust Curriculum is the vehicle in which we teach the knowledge and skills of all subject areas. This curriculum is adapted to meet the needs of 'Knowle learners'. Teachers take the responsibility of driving the curriculum at Knowle to ensure that the specific needs of our learners are met.

Learning Academies Trust (LAT) Curriculum

As Knowle we believe our curriculum should provide all of our children with a solid foundation of key knowledge that encourages, inspires and supports them to achieve and exceed their potential. Over the two years, teachers and leaders from Knowle have worked collaboratively with colleagues across the LAT to develop a curriculum (in line with the National Curriculum) which suits the needs of all of our children and aims to support the development of their long-term learning and memory.

The LAT Curriculum is grounded by key subject drivers: History, Geography, Science, Maths and English. In addition, each term, staff deliver topics which take deep dives into specific subjects. This includes: Design Technology and Art. These subjects are carefully mapped across the year and are partnered with others that allow enhanced opportunities for the development of knowledge and skills. The table below models how the curriculum is organised:

LAT Curriculum Overview

The document below provides you with an in depth look into our curriculum. Here you will find a detailed explanation in to the creation of our curriculum and the rationales behind our decision making.

LAT Curriculum- Structure and Content

The LAT Curriculum is mapped out through our subject drivers and discrete subjects. The documents below explain curriculum coverage in both the driver subjects and discrete subjects.
